Hoodia vs. Ephedra

Hoodia vastly different than Ephedra

There’s been much confusion about differences between Hoodia and Ephedra. Hoodia is an appetite-suppressent and Ephedra is a stimulant.

Several studies have shown that there to be no side effects associated with Hoodia. Supplements based on Hoodia are very new and researchers are still conducting many more studies. Current tests are and continue to be very promising.

Ephedra is a powerful stimulant that has been proven to increase the body's metabolism. There are numerous side effects associated with Ephedra. Some are so serious that they are even life threatening. In 2004, the FDA banned it.

Hoodia’s effects on the body

Hoodia will not stimulate your body.  It suppresses your appetite by tricking your brain into thinking your body is full.  The P57 molecule found in Hoodia mimics glucose and evidence indicates that it may be as much as 10,000 times more potent than glucose!  Unlike Ephedra, Hoodia is not harsh on the body and currently produces no known side effects.  Because of this, people have been able to continue taking Hoodia for long durations, which allows them to maintain their fat loss.

Ephedra’s effects on the body

Ephedra stimulates your body.  Most people that have taken Ephedra did not enjoy the side effects and stopped taking it permanently or temporarily. Due to Ephedra’s side effects, it was not a supplement that people could use for long periods.  Because of this, many that took Ephedra relapsed, regained the lost weight (and sometimes more), and became Yo-Yo dieters.  Ephedra is currently banned by U.S. law, Canadian law, and nearly all athletic commissions worldwide.
